The first X-class flare of solar cycle 24

X2.2 flare occurred at 0144 UT on February 15, 2011 in active region 1158. This flare is the first X-class flare of cycle 24. A full halo CME with speed of approximately 710 km/s was observed associated with this flare. A weak enhancement of solar energetic particles from this event was detected by the GOES satellite.
